Wedding

Tips, planning, timeline and more.

Planning Your

Welcome

We are so excited that you have shown interest in working with us. Whether you came here for the information or the art we create we are elated you are trusting us in your wedding planning. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. There are so many logistics and decisions to be made on how you want your day to be. Being a bride and groom ourselves and photographing and filming hundreds of weddings we like to say we have become experts in helping couples with some of the hard choices and logistics of their wedding day.

Engagement
Sessions

We are big fans of an engagement session, for both photography and cinematography. This is often the first time you might be in front of a camera at all or at least together. With anything practice makes perfect, or rather helps shake off the nerves.

An engagement session is a great way to work with your team you've decided to have capture your day. It also allows you both to get a little more comfortable and know what to expect in terms of capturing your wedding day so you aren't nervous and can truly just be yourselves.

If you need more help, check out our engagement session guide.

Bridal Portraits

Bridal portraits are a great way to really celebrate and capture being a bride. On your wedding day the focus is often on the timeline, making little time to really focus on YOU. A bridal portrait is a great time to see your hair, makeup and dress fully together and capture you! Can we talk about a confidence booster for your wedding day?

If you are considering a bridal portrait we recommend scheduling this at the same time as your hair and makeup trial. We can take these at your wedding venue or really anywhere else.

First Look vs. No First Look

Truly this is up to you and what you envision for your wedding day. Having a first look does make your wedding timeline more flexible, especially when it comes to unexpected weather. However, this is a personal choice for most couples, so we don't push either way. Just know that with a first look your formal photos can be spread out a bit more throughout the day. Without a first look, they are often all done at a similar time following the ceremony. We typically recommend at least an hour for all photos, sometimes an hour and a half depending on how many family photos and if you are wanting different locations for photos that we might have to travel to.

The perfect wedding day timeline:

why you need getting ready time built in

The biggest debate we see is do we need multiple hours of getting ready captured? The answer is always yes. The getting ready portion of your wedding day is a huge part of the day. This is when a lot of those candid moments happen between your wedding party and parents.

Capturing a wedding day is like telling a story, so you don't want us to miss all those beautiful and often emotional moments!

Wedding day details

We love capturing wedding day details, as it is part of the story and your style for your day. From beautiful invitation suites to jewelry and the shoes you will be wearing. These details you spent time curating for this day, so let us make sure to capture it!

Family Formals

The biggest piece of advice for family formals is to make sure you make a list prior to your wedding, share it with your photographer AND let any family member know that they will be in them and need to be at said place at said time. In fact, tell them an earlier time than they are needed, as people often run a little behind when they are attending a wedding day.

This creates a seamless and easy process to capture family formals. Also another tip, let your photographer know if there is family drama or dynamics.

1. Don't Forget to Eat
2. Prep for The Weather
3. Hire a Planner Always
4. Think through a first look with a parent
5. Pad timing, weddings always run a little behind

Wedding Albums

Your wedding is a significant moment in your life, and these images and films are important. Don’t hide them away on a computer file or Instagram feed. Instead, work with us to design albums, prints, and video keepsakes you can hold onto, view, and display. Because there’s something special about physically holding an album or daily looking at a print of the day you said, “I Do.” It creates an experience and a reminder that keeps your day alive.
