You’ve spent months (maybe years) planning the perfect day—but what if your photos and video don’t feel like you?

At The Hulls, we believe your wedding memories should look beautiful and feel honest. As a photography and videography team, we’ve documented hundreds of love stories, and the ones that stay with us aren’t always the most styled—they’re the most real.

Here are 7 tips to help your wedding media feel like a true reflection of your story:

1. Start with your why.

Before booking vendors, talk with your partner about what actually matters to you on the wedding day. Is it the ceremony? Time with family? Dancing all night? Knowing your priorities helps us capture what’s most meaningful—not just what looks good on paper.

2. Choose a photographer and videographer who work as a team.

Your photo and video team should complement each other, not compete for moments. When you hire a team like The Hulls, you get a seamless experience—and a final gallery and film that feel cohesive, not disconnected.

3. Make space in your timeline for real moments.

Back-to-back events leave little room to breathe. Build in time for quiet moments—getting ready without rush, sneaking away for golden hour portraits, or soaking it all in before the reception begins. That’s when the magic happens.

4. Don’t overthink how you look—focus on how you feel.

Yes, the dress matters. So does the lighting. But what people remember (and what shows up in your photos and film) is how you felt. Let go of perfection, be present, and your joy will always photograph beautifully.

5. Get personal with your details.

Wearing your grandma’s locket? Serving your favorite cocktails from your first date? Include them! These small, intentional touches help us tell your story with depth and meaning—not just aesthetics.

6. Trust your vendors (and release control).

By the time your day arrives, you’ve done the planning—now it’s time to live it. Trusting your creative team gives us the freedom to capture your day authentically, without needing to micromanage moments.

7. Remember: the “in-between” is where the story lives.

We’ll capture the big moments—the kiss, the first dance, the cake. But it’s the squeeze of your mom’s hand before the ceremony, or the way your partner’s face lights up during toasts, that make your memories feel alive.
